What is held about the people who use this platform, who can see it, and what happens when an account is deleted.

Who this is about
Quran ul Kareem is a place to read the Quran, and a place where teachers give Quran lessons to students. Anyone may read; only people with an account take part in lessons.
Reading the Quran here needs no account, and nothing you read is recorded anywhere but your own browser. The rest of this notice is about accounts.

What is held about you
An account holds your name, your email address, your role, and whether you are a child. Beyond that, what is held depends on what you do:
- Students: the work set for you, the recitations you record, your teacher's marks and the mistakes they marked, your memorisation progress, the games you play and the skills they measure, and any report cards or certificates issued to you.
- Parents and guardians: the link between you and your children, and the permissions you have granted or withdrawn on their behalf.
- Teachers: your public profile and introduction recording, your availability, your classes, and the identity and credential documents you submit to be verified.
- Everyone: messages you send, class attendance, notifications, and — if you turn them on — the push subscription that lets a device be notified.

Children
A child's account is managed by a guardian. A guardian can see the child's work, progress and reports, and holds the permissions below on the child's behalf.
A child's account is never advertised, never listed publicly, and cannot be found by searching. Teachers see only the children enrolled with them.

The three permissions
Three things do not happen unless a guardian has allowed them. Each can be withdrawn at any time, and withdrawing stops the thing at once:
- Recording submitted recitation — the student records themselves reciting so a teacher can mark it.
- Recording a live class — the class is recorded and kept for the teacher and the family to review.
- A parent observing a class — a guardian may join a live lesson to watch.

Recordings and documents
Recorded recitations and teachers' spoken corrections are stored privately and reached only through short-lived links. Live-class recordings are written directly by the video service to the same private storage.
Identity and credential documents that teachers submit for verification are deleted as soon as a decision is recorded on them. They are not kept as a file on the teacher's profile.

Who can see what
A teacher sees the students enrolled with them and the work they set. A guardian sees their own children. Nobody sees another family's children.
A small number of operators can see the verification queue and reports raised about safety, and can suspend a teacher. Where a class has been deleted but a concern might still be raised, operators — and only operators — can read the conversation that belonged to it.

Deleting your account
Deleting hides your account immediately and erases it after 30 days. Signing in again before then keeps it. After that it cannot be recovered.
A guardian's managed children are deleted with them, unless another guardian is linked to the child.
A teacher's classes, assignments and marks are erased with the teacher.
Messages a deleted person sent are kept for 365 days with no name attached, and a conversation whose class was erased is kept for the same period and can be read only by operators. This is so a safeguarding concern raised late still has something to look at.

Services this runs on
The database, sign-in and file storage are provided by Supabase. Hosting is by Vercel. Live classes and their recordings run on LiveKit. Push notifications travel through the push service built into your browser or phone.
Recitation audio in the reader is served from a public Quran audio CDN, and additional translations are fetched from public Quran APIs when you first open them. These are requested by your browser or by the server on your behalf; no account information is sent with them.

What is kept in your own browser
Your place in the mushaf, your saved ayahs, your reading plan, your reading activity and your display settings are stored in your browser and never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data clears them.

Asking about your data
To ask what is held about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, write to the address on the terms page. A guardian may ask on behalf of a child they manage.
